Known for brands like Walgreens, Duane Reade, Boots, and Alliance Healthcare, WBA also has one of the largest global pharmaceutical distribution networks.


In the Netherlands, Alliance Healthcare (AHC) includes pharmacy retail brands Boots and Alphega, a wholesale division, dedicated patient care (Allcura), and a logistics provider (Alloga), generating over €1.3 billion in local revenue.

Challenge

With a compelling vision and driven by both autonomous growth and a series of mergers, acquisitions, and rebrands, AHC has evolved into a diversified business. To further strengthen its market position and expand its market share, AHC recognized the need for regular strategy verification and organizational transformation. This necessitated new leadership capable of shaping a modern, efficient organization and realizing ambitious growth targets. Kienbaum was tasked with finding several new leaders for the company’s board, including a new CFO and a new IT Director. These leaders needed to possess not only expertise in their respective fields but also a proven track record in managing transformation. Additionally, they had to align with the new leadership DNA to co-create the desired company culture.
